I hope that you had an awesome and blessed Thanksgiving. Well, I must admit that mine was busy, but as I promised, today is the first segment of Sunday Matinee. Hopefully, this little segment will become my best friend and help me keep up with the books that I have and maybe, just maybe remove some from my TBR list. Let’s hope so. In addition, I’ll periodically be giving away a copy or two of some of the books I really enjoy.

With that said…today’s Matinee features Undeniably Yours by Shannon Stacey. Be sure to read to the end because you might find some goodies down there. LOL!

Summary:

She tries to keep her distance from Kevin but, by last call, she can’t say no to his too-blue eyes or the invitation back to his room. Then she slips out before breakfast without leaving a note and, despite their precautions, pregnant.

Kevin quickly warms to the idea of being a dad and to seeing where things go with Beth. After all, he’s not the player she thinks he is. But she’s not ready for a relationship and, given his reputation, it’s going to take a lot to convince her to go on a second date with the father of her child…

The Blackraven’s Review:

Shannon Stacey does a wonderful job of drawing you into Beth and Kevin’s one-night stand and ultimately baby drama. I must admit that Ms. Stacey does an excellent job of penning the term “Looks can be deceiving” when it comes to the gorgeous Kevin Kowalski. The man has depth, understanding, a heart of gold and the patience of JOB when it comes to dealing with Beth Hansen and her fears of commitment and losing herself to a man. While the fears are valid, there were times that I wanted to scream at Beth because she failed to recognize the treasure she had found in Kevin, who is definitely a good man. Don’t get me wrong, Kevin has a little playa in him, but fortunately he only wants to embrace that persona with Beth.

Although I read Undeniably Yours a couple of weeks ago, I can’t help but smile. This book will really make you feel good. It’s a classic romance with all of the drama you can imagine…a best friend running from her past and the love of her life, even if she’s unwilling to admit it at times, an unexpected bundle of joy on the way, an unexpected love that will definitely become everlasting if we can get the heroine on the right track, and a wonderfully, nose butting, loud, rowdy, loving family known as the Kowalskis.

Once again, the secondary characters that Ms. Stacey incorporated into the story only increased the depth of this well-written saga. Each of the characters was well-developed and three-dimensional in that there was always more simmering below the surface. Part of the fun was trying to determine what they would do next. Would they embrace the fears or be stifled by them? Would they embrace the unconditional love that was being given or would they slap it in the face and run for the hills? Undeniably Yours is a difficult book to put down, which is probably the reason I read it in one sitting and was still begging for more when I finished reading it. To me a book is really good when you think about the characters often after you’ve finished the story, which is definitely the case for me.

Ms. Stacey has a way of quickly bringing her characters to life in the story and you can’t help but care about them. In fact, they’ve become a part of my family. The story was well-paced and I enjoyed how she allowed each relationship to build and flourish instead of rushing the characters into a situation that was totally unrealistic. It’s part of what makes the story so engaging, yet complex. As a reader, I felt each of the characters pain, anguish, and joy as life happened, not only around them, but also to them. It was extremely refreshing, which is why I can’t get enough of the Kowalski family.

If you’re looking for a complex, compelling love story that involves a hard-headed, proud, yet strong and loving heroine, with a drop dead gorgeous, patient and understanding hero, that when combined establish an explosive relationship that will simply mesmerize you at times, yet making you envious during other times, then Undeniably Yours is definitely the book to read and re-read. I know that I will be re-reading when the mood strikes. Once again, Ms. Stacey has hit a homerun with Undeniably Yours and I’d definitely recommend it to my friends.
